This guided trip works on giving passionate wildlife photographers a change to photograph a wide range of highland species. The course works on field craft, camera controls, lens choice and using hides to capture those spilt second shots. The group will be split into two with Josh Jaggard taking half the group and Jack Perks the other to reduce disturbance to wildlife and maximise chances of getting images.

Although beginners are welcome, a basic understanding of camera controls (aperture, shutter speed and ISO) will improve your chances of getting quality wildlife images.

Although some locations are very close to car parks and require little effort getting to them, others like the climb for mountain hare & ptarmigan are not advised for the less able bodied but feel free to get in touch if your unsure. A boat trip out of Inverness is also opitional to see dolphins and seals in the spring.

Included in the price is accommodation in a lodge in the Glenlivet estate in the heart of the Scottish Highlands as well as breakfast. Evening meals & lunch are not included but cooking facilities are available on site with fridge/freezer also.

Accommodation: Twin rooms, shower, tv, wifi, kitchen and lounge with sofas.

(if you'd rather stay in a room on your own you can pay a little more for this)

Special purpose black grouse hides are available in the spring for the more adventuous to use spending the night in one to view the sunrise and black grouse lekking getting intimate shots of them however this is at a extra cost if you like to book this when staying with us it can be arranged.

Although myself Josh can take some of you to locations there is some driving involved also to areas further afield no more then two hours drive from the cottage, however the lodge at Glenlivet where we stay has bird feeders outside the windows with most garden birds visiting with siskins being a regular feature and red squirrel feeders in the woods behind us less then 10 minutes away. The River Livet at the bottom of the lodge has Otter, Atlantic Salmon and good numbers of Dipper.

Prime lenses are ideal, 400mm, 500mm and a  300mm with a tele-converter would also be a good size. Zoom lenses 100 – 400 is a good size. Wider lens good for landscapes and habitat shots with wildlife.

Testimonials

"Just returned from an amazing week in the Cairngorm National Park taking part in a Wildlife Photography trip lead by Jack and Josh. I really appreciate the effort the guys went to in ensuring that the group of eight of us got good views of a wide variety of wildlife species. Almost all my wish list was ticked. Both Josh and Jack had spent time getting some species used to feeding close by and they had clearly researched the area fully prior to our arrival giving us the best possible chance of capturing well framed shots. I learned lots of bush-craft tips and the importance of having respect for the wildlife in addition to a knowledge of their habitat and behaviour.

The guys were on hand to offer technical support at time of image capture if needed and advise on workflow and  processing. With safety in mind they were able to judge individuals physical abilities and offer alternative options as necessary. Clearly a couple of very talented individuals. I would love to join another of their trips in the future."

"This was an excellent course set in the wonderful scenery of the Cairngorms National Park.   Jack and Josh are experienced, expert photographers and have the necessary skills to pass on their knowledge to others.  The right amount of advice was on hand for each student depending on their experience and the opportunity to get near to many iconic species of the upland moors.  I will never forget crouching in the heather surrounded by red grouse calling and displaying or the white mountain hare that almost jumped on me.  I would recommend this course highly for anyone wanting to learn how to photograph different highland species in their natural environment.
